Camu Camu i a cherry-like red fruit that contains the highest concentration of vitamin C of any known fruit; making it a much sought-after ingredient in the food industry. The camu camu berry is harvested directly into canoes from the bushy riverside tree on which it grows. In its native Peru, Camu is often used to flavor ice cream and smoothies. The indigenous people of the Amazon traditionally pluck the Camu Camu berries at harvest time and used the dried berries for medicinal purposes throughout the rest of the year. The Camu Camu berries become light beige when dried and powdered.
